Detox day after the holidays: give your body a well-deserved break

Journée détox après les Fêtes : offrez une pause bien méritée à votre corps
The holiday season, a time for rich meals, chocolates, and all sorts of treats… Did you enjoy these magical moments? Did you eat well? Too much? What if you opted for a detox day before the last big meal of 2017: New Year's Day?

Give your body a break!

First of all, understand that the idea behind a detox day isn't to starve yourself; on the contrary, the goal is to avoid devouring everything in your fridge the next day! A detox day aims to give your body a bit of a "digestive" rest. Your stomach and liver have been working overtime during the holidays, so it's your turn to pamper them! Today, we're guiding you through your detox day with smoothies made from fresh fruits and vegetables.
The goal of a detox:
-Eliminate toxins from your body (and not just those accumulated during Christmas)
-Rehydrate the body
-Energy boost
-Improve complexion
-Boost the immune system

Foods to eliminate and foods to favor for a detox day

For this detox day, try to avoid sports that demand too much energy from the body, such as boxing or athletics; instead, opt for a yoga or Pilates class…
What foods should you eliminate/avoid on the day of your detox?
-Sugar, processed and refined products
-Meats and dairy products
-Soda, coffee, sugary drinks
-Saturated fats
-Starchy foods
-Alcohol
Which foods should we prioritize?
-Water, green tea, herbal teas
-Fresh fruits and vegetables
-Condiments: Use condiments in your cooking to add flavor to your food. Coriander and parsley help with liver detoxification.
During your detox day, remember to drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water. Vegetables can be eaten raw or cooked, but be careful not to overcook them to avoid losing vitamins and minerals. Finally, rest, or engage in some gentle physical activity!
