Did you have a bit too much to drink that night? Did you wake up this morning with a heavy head, a churning stomach, and a feeling of nausea? Unfortunately, this is often the case the morning after a party! In this article, we'll share some tips and tricks to help you recover from your night out, and especially which teas can help!

The morning after a night out: why am I not feeling well?

After a night of excess, the body is not in “top shape”, here are the main causes of your headache, stomach ache, fatigue etc….
First of all, you should know that headaches are mainly caused by dehydration! In fact, to avoid that unbearable headache, it's very important to drink water during your party! Alcohol is extremely dehydrating; alcohol is a diuretic, but contrary to what you might think, it doesn't hydrate you at all!
Furthermore, when drinking alcohol, the body is no longer able to produce sugar, which causes hypoglycemia and thus leads to minor discomfort and nausea. That's why it's important to eat if you drink alcohol.
Finally, and most importantly, drink in moderation; alcohol is not harmless! It's important to properly detoxify your liver the day after a heavy drinking session.

What tea should I drink to combat the unpleasant effects of alcohol?

Here are some plants that can help you depending on the different ailments caused by alcohol:

Detoxify your liver

To help your system regenerate and your liver detoxify, start by drinking lots and lots of water! Then, feel free to drink the following teas, which will help you see things more clearly!
  • Green tea
  • Guarana
  • Lemon green tea / Ginger
  • Nettle
  • Dandelion
  • Grapefruit

Eliminate nausea

Another unpleasant side effect of alcohol: nausea… very often due to mixing alcohols, hypoglycemia, but also dehydration!
Here are some plants and teas that can provide relief:
  • Ginger / lemon
  • Green tea
  • Peppermint
  • Cinnamon

Fighting bad breath

Let's be honest, the morning after a big night out you don't exactly have minty gum breath, and unfortunately, it can linger for hours! To get rid of bad breath, drink cinnamon tea! It works wonders and will help you get fresher breath again!
You can also chew fresh mint leaves, parsley, lemon, or licorice!

Rehydrate your body

As we mentioned earlier, one of the downsides of alcohol is dehydration! First and foremost, it's very important to drink plenty of water; you can add lemon. Alternatively, you can drink Rooibos tea. It's not recommended to drink a liter of green tea, so opt for an herbal tea instead! It will hydrate you and provide more enjoyment and flavor than water!
