A fully equipped tea set: the items to collect and use

Un thé tout équipé : les objets à collectionner et à utiliser
The world of tea is a rich one. There are the more traditional teas (green, white, black; oolong or jasmine tea, for example) and the more vibrant tea blends of today (their names are often unusual and they combine smooth flavors, like chocolate and caramel, or fruity ones, like orange, lemon, or pineapple, with types of green or chai tea). There are also tea accessories.

Basic equipment, in all its forms

There are some tea accessories you're already familiar with, essential items, if you will. Even a child who's never seen tea in their home will know what a teapot is (if only because of Alice in Wonderland!) and, of course, a cup. Cups can be mugs printed to your liking, or they can be tiny or delicate, like more traditional teacups. Also, if you buy loose-leaf tea rather than tea bags, you'll need an infuser to avoid getting tea leaves or other components in every sip!

Yesterday and tomorrow

We're increasingly used to having tea ready in minutes (thanks to efficient electric kettles) that stays hot for a long time (thanks to insulated thermoses). With a new lifestyle comes new equipment, after all! And modern tea accessories are often as practical as they are stylish. Lightweight yet durable materials; sometimes eccentric and whimsical shapes… but above all, more control and flexibility in how we use and drink our tea.
Traditional tea accessories, on the other hand, are often made of heavy materials (a tin kettle, for example) or very fragile ones (glass or porcelain), but they possess the irresistible charm of an "old-fashioned" tea service, where each object has its purpose. Using traditional tea accessories also encourages slowness and meditation: drinking your tea in this way becomes a special experience.
