Looking for a fresh, original, and subtly herbal cocktail? Discover this rum and matcha cocktail recipe , created by the Cha Yi Tea House. A surprising marriage of the smoothness of rum, the intensity of matcha, the freshness of mint, and the acidity of lime. Perfect for a refined and refreshing summer aperitif.

Ingredients (for 2 people)

  • 60 ml (2 oz) of rum

  • 2 tsp matcha tea

  • A little water (to dilute the matcha)

  • 200 ml of water or sparkling water

  • The juice of 2 limes

  • 1 bunch of fresh mint

  • 4 tablespoons of sugar

  • Ice

Preparation

  1. Remove the mint leaves and place them in a bowl.

  2. Add the lime juice and sugar, then gently crush with a pestle to release the mint aromas.

  3. In a small bowl, dilute the matcha with a little water until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous texture.

  4. Fill two glasses with ice cubes, then pour in the rum.

  5. Add the matcha mixture.

  6. Using a sieve, filter the lemon-mint juice, pressing the leaves well to extract all the flavors.

  7. Top up with water or sparkling water according to your preference.

  8. Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh mint… and enjoy!

Tip: For an even more festive version, replace the water with very cold sparkling water.
