Eat fresh fruits and vegetables
It's no secret that eating fresh fruits and vegetables every day helps you stay in shape and, more importantly, boosts your immune system! Every morning at breakfast, remember to have a glass of fresh fruit juice or simply eat a piece of fruit! The same goes for lunch, snacks, and dinner; never forget your portion of fruits and vegetables.
Consume probiotics
Did you know that 70% of our immune defenses reside in our gut? It's time to take care of it, don't you think? A short course of probiotics will do you a world of good! Probiotics are generally available as dietary supplements, but also in plain yogurt. In fact, consuming one or two plain yogurts a day for about ten days can help reduce the risk of catching a cold.
Focus on magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral with numerous benefits! It's excellent for combating fatigue, stress, nervousness, lack of sleep, high blood pressure, vascular disease, and much more. A short course of magnesium in winter will do you a world of good!
Here is a list of some foods rich in magnesium.
- sardines
- seafood
- cocoa,
- cashew nuts,
- almonds,
- spices (cumin seeds, coriander seeds, curry, ground ginger…),
- wholegrain breads and rice
Get your fill of vitamin D
In winter, one thing is certain: vitamin D deficiencies are most significant given the fewer sunny days.
To compensate for a lack of vitamin D, you can certainly take it via food supplements, but also consume some of the following foods: cod liver, smoked herring, sardines, salmon...
Drink some tea!
