The different forms of tea

Les différentes formes de thé
Tea can be prepared in different ways depending on the form in which it is purchased. Some people always prefer loose leaf tea, while others prefer tea bags, mainly due to their convenience.

Loose leaf tea

The advantage of loose-leaf tea, especially for connoisseurs, is its superior taste and aroma compared to tea bags. The selection is also much wider and more varied: colors, countries of origin, aromas... you'll find everything. You can even experiment with different flavors to create exquisite blends. For many, preparing loose-leaf tea is a true pleasure! However, it's essential to be familiar with the correct preparation method, steeping time, and the amount of leaves to use; otherwise, the result won't be optimal. The steeping time, for example, depends directly on the size of the tea leaves. A good teapot with a filter, which can be integrated or separate, disposable or reusable, is essential for any loose-leaf tea preparation.

Tea bag

The quick and easy preparation of tea bags makes them a favorite for everyday use. After bringing the water to a boil, simply steep the bag and then discard it. Unfortunately, especially with major commercial brands, the tea's flavor is often artificially enhanced, and the blend of leaves isn't always as pure as loose-leaf tea. Always check the box for a description of the bag's contents to avoid inferior teas. In terms of price per unit, tea bags are significantly more expensive, and you'll be limited by the quantity you can buy.

Tea in muslin bags

Muslin tea bags differ from commercial tea bags in that the fabric has a wider weave. This allows water to penetrate more effectively, resulting in a better infusion of the tea leaves and, of course, an aroma and flavor closer to that of loose-leaf tea. Because the fabric is entirely natural, the taste of the tea leaves remains unaltered by the subtle changes caused by the artificial ingredients used in the production of industrial tea bags. With muslin tea bags, you get the taste of loose-leaf tea with the convenience of tea bags.

Flowering tea

There's also flowering tea, which is a unique experience in itself. Not only is it a new variation in terms of taste, but it's also a real feast for the eyes. The edible flowers are individually chosen for their beauty. Then, the flower, usually a lily, jasmine, or carnation, is handwoven with white, black, or green tea leaves. Once in hot water, the petals begin to unfurl, and the flower appears to bloom, hence its English name, "blooming tea." A truly spectacular sight! Above all, remember to use a transparent glass or teapot so you don't miss this scene, which is unique every time!
