Do you enjoy spicy teas with a strong flavor? Then you probably appreciate Chai tea, but do you really know it? Do you know its origins and how to prepare and enjoy it? Here's everything you need to know about Chai tea.
The origins of Chai tea
Chai tea, which means "tea" in Hindi, originates from India; in fact, it is THE national drink of the country.
This black tea is a subtle blend of Masala spices containing cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Chai tea is therefore rich in flavor and has a pronounced taste.
This tea is now very popular all over the world and is consumed in different ways, with milk, iced, hot… it’s up to you to choose according to your preferences.
How to prepare it
Heat the water to 95 degrees Celsius
Add 2.5g of Chai tea to an infuser or use a tea bag
Infuse for 3 to 5 minutes depending on your taste.

If you want it in latte form, froth some milk (animal or plant-based) and pour it into the already brewed tea; you can add a touch of sugar for extra sweetness.
How to taste it
Whether you like it hot, cold, with milk, or plain, Chai tea is best enjoyed during the day, unless it's decaffeinated. Due to its high caffeine content, decaffeinated tea could cause sleep problems.
Chai tea pairs very well with butter biscuits or milk chocolate, which helps to soften it once in the mouth.
